Shakespeare Institutions

The heart of brothers govern in our loves
And sway our great designs!

Antony and Cleopatra 2.2.156-7

In order to promote the appreciation of Shakespeare's works and to encourage research in Shakespeare studies, a variety of Shakespeare institutions, i.e. trusts, libraries, associations, have been founded.

They all participate in making Shakespeare accessible not only to the British or academics but to everyone. After all, Shakespeare's plays were watched by everyone in his time, weren't they?

Because of the number of national Shakespeare associations, the list on this page is not concluding but at any rate a useful start.
